A modern home in Runda, Nairobi, installed a 7.2kW solar system to eliminate grid dependence and support their growing energy needs—including EV charging, smart appliances, and remote work setups.
The project included:
- 24 x 300W monocrystalline panels (mounted on two roof sections with optimal tilt)
- Svolt 48V/10kWh lithium battery bank (visible in Image 41—fully wired with safety breakers and status indicators)
- Top King 8kVA hybrid inverter with MPPT charge controller
- Dedicated circuit for electric vehicle charging point
Installation spanned 2 days: roof mounting (Images 42–43), followed by indoor integration and commissioning. The final result (Image 44) shows clean, low-profile panel layout that complements the architecture—no visible wiring or damage to tiles.
Key outcomes:
✓ 100% daytime power from solar
✓ 8+ hours of backup during outages (fridge, lights, Wi-Fi, security)
✓ KES 16,500 monthly savings on electricity
✓ Seamless EV charging using stored solar energy

The homeowner noted: “My Tesla charges overnight using only solar—and my bill is now just KES 1,200 for minimal grid top-up.”
